Education Development Director

Location: United Kingdom (Remote, with regular travel)

Position Type: Permanent

About Our Client

Following a sustained period of growth, our client is expanding its commercial team with the appointment of an Education Development Director to lead new business development across Europe.

This is a newly created role with a clear strategic objective: to develop new supporter relationships across the pharmaceutical industry, broaden the organisation's supporter base and help drive the next phase of commercial growth.

Working closely with the senior leadership team, you'll play a leading role in developing new relationships with Medical Affairs teams across Europe, identifying commercial opportunities and supporting their progression into high-quality educational programmes.

The primary focus of this role is identifying and developing new business opportunities across Europe. We're looking for someone who enjoys opening doors, creating opportunities and building trusted relationships, rather than managing an inherited portfolio.

The Opportunity

You'll play a central role in expanding the organisation's European presence by identifying new opportunities, developing strategic relationships and supporting the continued growth of an independent medical education business.

Working collaboratively with Medical Strategy and Operations, you'll represent the organisation at industry congresses, engage with senior Medical Affairs stakeholders and support the development of high-quality educational proposals.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop new business opportunities across Europe within the pharmaceutical industry.

  • Build trusted relationships with Medical Affairs, Grants and other key stakeholders.

  • Generate and qualify new commercial opportunities.

  • Support commercial discussions throughout the opportunity development process.

  • Represent the organisation at European and international industry congresses and events.

  • Work closely with Medical Strategy and Operations to develop compelling educational proposals.

  • Maintain an accurate pipeline using Salesforce and contribute to commercial planning.

  • Share market intelligence and identify emerging opportunities across the medical education landscape.

About You

You'll be a commercially driven business developer with a passion for building relationships and creating new opportunities.

A scientific background would be advantageous. However, we're equally interested in candidates who have built successful commercial careers within independent medical education, medical publishing, scientific communications or healthcare communications.

Essential Experience and Skills

  • A proven track record of generating new business.

  • Experience developing relationships with Medical Affairs or senior pharmaceutical stakeholders.

  • A consultative approach to business development.

  • The confidence to engage senior decision-makers and open new accounts.

  • A proactive, entrepreneurial mindset.

  • Excellent relationship-building and communication skills.

  • Willingness to travel across Europe to attend client meetings and industry congresses.

Desirable Experience

  • A scientific background.

  • Experience within Independent Medical Education (IME) or Continuing Medical Education (CME).

  • Commercial experience within medical publishing, scientific communications or healthcare communications.

  • Experience working with Grants teams and educational funding opportunities.

  • Familiarity with Salesforce or other CRM platforms.

  • Additional European language skills.

What Success Looks Like

In this role, you'll play a key role in driving the organisation's continued European growth by:

  • Building meaningful relationships with Medical Affairs teams across Europe.

  • Generating and developing a strong pipeline of new business opportunities.

  • Expanding the organisation's supporter base through new commercial partnerships.

  • Representing the organisation professionally at industry congresses and networking events.

  • Collaborating with internal teams to support the development of high-quality educational proposals.

  • Contributing to the continued international growth of the business.

Why Join Our Client’s Team?

  • Join a growing organisation at an exciting stage of its international expansion.

  • Take on a newly created role with the opportunity to help shape business development across Europe.

  • Work alongside an experienced, collaborative leadership team committed to long-term growth.

  • Build strategic partnerships with Medical Affairs teams across the pharmaceutical industry.

  • Represent the organisation at leading European and international industry congresses.

  • Join a collaborative and ambitious organisation committed to improving healthcare through education while playing a visible role in its continued international growth.
