The Opportunity

This Clinical Lead position is a senior role with responsibility for providing direction and guidance to project teams across regions. You will coordinate site management and monitoring activities, and act as a key link between the project team and Project Manager, ensuring clinical operations run smoothly from start-up through to ongoing monitoring. It is an opportunity to use your expertise to influence study delivery while supporting and mentoring clinical teams.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide leadership, direction and guidance to the project team across multi-regional clinical studies.

• Coordinate site management and monitoring activities and communicate status updates to the Project Manager.

• Support and coordinate feasibility, site identification and site selection activities for multi-regional studies.

• Lead and assist with preparation of initial ethics and regulatory submission packages.

• Oversee approval processes and timelines to ensure studies progress as planned.

• Support the Project Manager with applications for Investigational Product (IP) and ancillary import/export permits and licences.

• Work with the Project Manager to coordinate initial IP shipment across regions.

• Lead internal CRA meetings and teleconferences, preparing sections of the agenda and following up on specific actions.

• Prepare agendas, meeting minutes and additional communication for internal meetings as required.

• Attend sponsor meetings and contribute to discussions, preparation of agendas and minutes as needed.

• Correspond directly with sponsors to provide information and updates where appropriate.

Minimum Qualifications & Experience

• Proven experience performing advanced clinical monitoring and site management tasks across multiple locations at a senior level.

• Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to provide clear direction to clinical teams.

• Strong organisational skills and the ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

• Experience in coaching and mentoring clinical teams.

• Strong communication skills and fluency in verbal and written English.

Key Responsibilities

In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring that clinical trials are conducted in accordance with Good Clinical Practice (GCP), regulatory requirements, Standard Operating Procedures and project agreements, while leading and supporting members of our client’s team.

Line Management

• Act as line manager for one or more Clinical Leads and/or administrative staff within our client’s team.

• Work with Human Resources and senior management to identify resource needs and support hiring of new staff.

• Meet regularly with line reports to review and manage work quality, workload, welfare and development needs.

Learning and Development

• Contribute to the design and delivery of training to Clinical Operations staff, supporting skills growth across our client’s team.

Business Development and External Representation

• Represent our client at industry conferences and professional meetings as required.

• Support feasibility assessments and provide feasibility information to business development teams.

• Maintain a strong understanding of local and international clinical trial landscapes and provide informed advice to business development.

• Identify and highlight opportunities within projects or existing client relationships to expand business collaborations.

• Participate in bid defence and other business development meetings with local and international clients as a clinical operations representative.

• Establish and maintain relationships with key clinical trial sites and opinion leaders.

• Build and manage relationships with local third-party vendors such as central laboratories, depots, couriers, regulatory consultants and translation providers.

General Responsibilities

• Adhere to company policies, procedures and guidelines, maintaining a strong focus on quality in all activities.

• Identify areas of inefficiency in clinical operations and recommend improvements.

• Assist in the review and development of clinical operations SOPs and guidelines.

• Participate actively in the clinical operations group, including contributing to and presenting at clinical team meetings.

• Understand the responsibilities of our client as a service provider in the pharmaceutical industry.

• Ensure all communications with external parties and all aspects of study team performance present a positive professional image of our client.

About You

Our client is looking for a Clinical Operations Manager who brings both hands-on clinical research experience and proven leadership capability.

• Graduate in a life sciences related field and/or significant line management experience within the pharmaceutical industry.

• Experience in a Senior CRA, Project Manager or similar role, with considerable monitoring experience.

• Previous experience within a contract research organisation and line and/or matrix management experience are highly regarded.

• Able to balance operational oversight with people management, providing clear guidance while supporting autonomy and professional growth.
