Key Responsibilities:
1. Strategic Leadership:
Develop and implement a comprehensive research strategy focused on early-stage drug discovery.
Oversee the identification and validation of new drug targets and pipeline assets.
Align research initiatives with the overall business objectives and ensure continued scientific innovation.
2. Team Management:
Lead, mentor, and inspire a multidisciplinary team of scientists and researchers.
Foster a collaborative, creative, and high-performance research environment.
Drive talent development and ensure the team is equipped with the tools and skills needed for success.
3. Project Oversight:
Manage multiple drug discovery and research programs simultaneously, ensuring they meet timelines and budget constraints.
Coordinate with cross-functional teams, advancing projects through the early research stages and pre-clinical development.
Track key project milestones and pivot as necessary to ensure success.
4. Scientific Expertise:
Provide expert scientific guidance in the areas of drug discovery, pre-clinical development, and emerging scientific trends.
Stay abreast of cutting-edge advancements in the industry and integrate new approaches into the company’s research strategy.
5. Collaboration and Communication:
Build and maintain strong relationships with external partners, including academic institutions, contract research organizations (CROs), and biotech companies.
Present research findings and progress updates to senior management, investors, and other stakeholders.
Foster collaboration across departments to maximize the impact of scientific discoveries.
6. Regulatory and Compliance:
Ensure all research activities adhere to regulatory standards and industry best practices.
Oversee the preparation and review of scientific documentation for regulatory submissions.
Qualifications:
PhD in a relevant scientific field (e.g., Biology, Chemistry, Pharmacology).
Extensive experience in drug discovery, with a proven track record of advancing early-stage research projects in the biotech or pharmaceutical industry.
Demonstrated success in managing and mentoring high-performing scientific teams.
Strong leadership skills, with the ability to lead by example and drive a culture of innovation and excellence.
Exceptional project management skills, with a focus on balancing short-term objectives with long-term strategic goals.
Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills, capable of translating complex scientific concepts to a wide range of audiences.
Familiarity with regulatory standards, documentation, and compliance in the context of drug development.
