Job Summary and Responsibilities

  • Expression and purification of proteins from milligram to gram scale using FPLC (AKTA)

  • Maintenance and expansion bacterial/mammalian cell cultures for DNA prep and protein expression

  • Routine cloning and plasmid preparation

  • Support post-purification quality assessment of biologics

  • Maintain primary laboratory equipment, a detailed electronic lab notebook and data entry

  • Represent the Protein Sciences Team collaborating with a diverse group of scientists, supporting several exciting pipelines.

Position Requirements

  • B.S. (with 4 years) or M.S. (with 2 years) experience in biochemistry, biophysics, chemistry or related field, with pharmaceutical / biotech experience preferred; position offered will be commensurate with experience

  • Proficiency in protein purification techniques (AKTA FPLC, affinity, IMAC, preparative SEC, etc.). Strong preference for experience with AKTA FPLC.

  • Proficiency in cell culture (bacterial/mammalian) i.e. transformation/transfection (HEK/CHO)

  • Familiarity with molecular biology techniques (Gibson cloning, plasmid prep, sequence analysis)

  • Familiarity with limited QC of proteins (endotoxin assay, analytical SEC, DSF, MST, SDS-PAGE/CE-SDS)

  • Familiarity in mass spectrometry (intact or peptide mapping) is considered a plus.

  • Ability to work independently and plan/organize experiments and communicate results accordingly

  • Strong interpersonal communication skills, presentation skills and ability to thrive in an agile and team-oriented matrix environment, communicating with colleagues across functions and disciplines

  • Ability to learn new skills, adapt to challenges in a fast-paced environment and provide significant input into the design and direction of projects
